The Commercial Bank Celebrates Grand Opening of New Headquarters in Watkinsville, Ga
The Commercial Bank joined with customers, employees, directors, and local officials today to celebrate the official opening of its new headquarters in Watkinsville, Georgia.
Founded in 1924 by local businessmen in Oglethorpe County to serve the financial needs of the citizens and businesses of the area, The Commercial Bank is one of the few remaining locally owned and operated community banks in the Athens area. Today, having more than doubled its size over the past 10 years to over $180 million in total assets, the Bank has grown to be an integral part of the local economy and a respected institution among bankers throughout Georgia.
Located on the north side of the Oconee Connector between Epps Bridge Parkway (GA 316) and Athens Perimeter bypass (US 78), the Bank’s new 10,000 square foot, 2-story main office was designed to make an immediate positive impact on the bank’s operations and customer experience, while also positioning the bank to allow for long-term growth.
The first floor of the new facility is largely focused on retail banking services, with 12 offices, waiting areas, a conference room, restrooms and back-office operations space for employees, while the second floor is planned for future expansion space. Both the interior and exterior of the building are designed to reflect the bank’s traditional roots, with a handsome mix of low maintenance materials including brick and stone, and a standing seam metal roof. Drive-thru services, including a 24-hour night depository and ATM services, are also available at the new facility for added customer convenience.

Eclipse Brand Builders, based in Suwanee, Georgia, provided design services, including architecture, engineering, interior design and procurement of the furnishings, fixtures, artwork and accessories for the project. Patriot Construction, based in Crawford, Georgia, was the general contractor and provided construction management services for the project.
